We jump on a call. I install it with you, set the hotkey you want, sort out any Notepad++ path weirdness and check it works before we finish.
Book a setup sessionGPTClip isn't affiliated with OpenAI or Notepad++. AutoHotkey and Notepad++ are independent, free tools.
I built this because I was sick of the copy-paste shuffle while I was learning to vibe code in ChatGPT. Every time it gave me code I'd click, select, scroll and paste, and something always went slightly wrong. So I spent a weekend writing an AutoHotkey script to fix it for myself.
I'm sharing it in case it helps other Windows tinkerers move faster. It isn't a startup or a SaaS. It's a script that does one thing and does it well.

GPTClip is a small AutoHotkey v2 script for Windows that puts the code you've copied from ChatGPT into a new Notepad++ file when you press Ctrl+Alt+N. It's made for hobby coders who write their code in the ChatGPT chat window rather than in an IDE.
Yes, and with any other browser. GPTClip works from your clipboard, so it doesn't matter where you copied the code from. Click Copy on the code block (or select it and press Ctrl+C) in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or the ChatGPT app, then press Ctrl+Alt+N.
Yes. Anything you can copy as text works, so code from Claude, Gemini, Copilot or a forum answer goes into Notepad++ the same way.
It's a plain-text AutoHotkey script, so you can read every line before you run it. It doesn't connect to the internet, and it only acts when you press Ctrl+Alt+N: it reads your clipboard (without changing it), saves the text as a new .txt file in its scratch folder and opens that file in Notepad++. It never writes into a file you already have open. When it starts, it shows a small notice in the system tray and tidies old files out of its scratch folder. It keeps a small log of each run (the time, and whether it worked or which error it hit, never your code) in your AppData folder.
Yes. The hotkey is the line ^!n::AI_Bridge_Run() near the top of the script. Change ^!n (Ctrl+Alt+N) to any combination you like, save the file and press Ctrl+Alt+R to reload it.
Not yet. GPTClip only targets Notepad++ for now. VS Code support may come later if enough people ask for it.
No. AutoHotkey only runs on Windows, so GPTClip is Windows only.
Yes, if you want it to be. The download is pay what you want on Gumroad, and $0 is fine. The $49 option is a session where I set it up with you.
Into a scratch folder next to the script, already saved, as a .txt file named chatgpt_ plus the date and time. Use Save As in Notepad++ to give it a proper name and extension, or to keep it somewhere else. GPTClip deletes its chatgpt_ files older than 30 days when it starts and after each successful run, so move anything you want to keep.
The script probably isn't running. Look for the green H in your system tray (it may be hiding under the ^ arrow) and double-click the script again if it's missing. Ctrl+Alt+T shows a popup when it's running, and Ctrl+Alt+L opens the log, which records any error.
Two minutes to set up. Then it's Copy, Ctrl+Alt+N, done, for good.
